Hey so I know a lot of you must attend lolita meetups and I'm wondering what was your favorite meet and why?
My community is on the smaller side but I really enjoy our annual tea parties at the local tea house.
Also feel free to discuss your ideal meetup and tips on organizing your own. What meet ups are best for a larger group and smaller group as well as different price options and what you'd expect to spend at certain events.

I enjoy going to fancier meets, because it's a nice experience being able to get dolled up and see everyone else at their best and eat tasty food, but something I think is kind of a trade-off is that I can't interact with people as much- you get stuck in one chair and talk to the peeps who are close to you, but if someone is at the other end of a table or at another one completely, it's pretty much guarantee that you won't be seeing any of them for the whole meet. In contrast, casual meets, like picnics or craft meets and whatnot, might be more toned down, but I enjoy getting to really talk to people and have just silly fun.
My comm has had some themed meets- twinning meets and ita meets and so on. I like it a lot because we get to see people's different takes on ideas, and I think it could be taken further, like if going to an aquarium you had an water/ocean theme, or if at a zoo it was animal themed. I'd also really like to have an old-school meet, and we could rewatch Shimotsuma Monogatari and drink tea and go over old Gosu Roris.
I also really like the idea of kind of non-loli, active meets, such as trampolining and laser tag. Obviously, it'd be very casually in the sense of dress-code, but I think sometimes lolis need to let loose and have more fun.

Oh man, an aquarium meet sounds so fun! Zoos can be kind of dusty and hot though, I dunno that I'd want to be outside in lolita all day.
My favorite meet up every year is, like yours, the one at the local tea house. It's small and cute and heavily decorated like an English tea house, and their tea and food is always divine. I'm also really looking forward to a meet next month, at an indoor butterfly exhibit. It looks really neat and unique, I'm sure we'll get some cute pictures out of it, too! I'd also like to plan another meet up at the botanical garden once it gets cooler, because I missed out the first time (and I planned it... couldn't find parking orz).
I dunno about more active stuff. I can't imagine a whole lot of girls wanna get as dressed up as lolita usually entails just to get sweaty or possibly dirty. Even if I just wear a replica or BL, I'm still careful in it and I do my makeup all nice too, I don't want to ruin that haha!
Can we also suggest unique meet locations/activities? The obvious are tea parties and art museums and such, but I really like thinking outside the box for meets, because a lot of girls in my comm have been doing this for 3+ years and are probably getting bored of same old-same old.

Yeah, active meets are definitely a really casual thing, maybe even just jumping around in bloomers is better than getting a dress dirty. For unique meets- I went to a lace museum at the beginning of the summer. It was really interesting and educational; they taught the history of lace, and about different kinds and where they came from, and taught us how to make a really basic lace. I guess that's still a museum, though. Let's see, one that I didn't get to go to but seemed really interesting was a thrift shopping meet, and we have a fruit-picking meet coming up for the fall. They've also done some wine-tasting meets for the 21+ age group. I also saw pictures of a UK comm that went to an alpaca farm and got to walk some alpacas around, and that seemed like such fun.

I'm not sure what my favorite meetup was...I liked every single one that I attended. One suggestion that I have for planning meets is to remember that some people have special diets. I would try to get dietary info from people in advance so that I could see what place would be a good fit or what I'd need to make. I met a few ladies from my old comm for a last-minute dinner (not really a meet) when I visited this month. I made sure to pick a restaurant that had a lot of variety, since I didn't know who needed to avoid what. The one lolita that I hadn't met was vegan, so she was really relieved to see all the vegan options on the menu.

I haven't been able to attend many meetups because of my work schedule. But my favorites sofar have been one at a tea place. It was really fancy and the food was delicious! I also really enjoyed a meetup we had at an arts festival. The only downside is that it was really hot, so everyone was roasting.

I don't know if I have a favorite meet I've ever been to. I have a scariest meet I've ever been to! (We were attacked by hornets and there were at least a dozen stuck in my friend's petticoat!!) We're trying to plan a big meet for the winter International Lolita Day, so I hope that will become my favorite.
