I am still fairly new to lolita, however I have noticed within the past two years, many themes are repeated by lolita brands. More often than not, the brands release theme prints not too far from another, perhaps due to influence. Such as stained glass or books.
What themes do you often see brands repeat? or by a particular brand? Any themes you wish existed?

Personally, I want more underwater themes, particularly mermaids.

I've been toying with the idea of drawing a mermaid print but in a more classic take in contrast to the sweet prints by AP.
My favorite trend atm is the chocolate theme that AP and IW are on. I love all the cute accessories!

I feel like there's quite a few mermaid prints- AatP, AP, and ETC have all done them. I kind of wish AatP would go back to doing some pirate prints, though.

I love library prints! They're all pretty similar visually, but I think they feel really classic and are good for both lolita and for a slightly classier normal outfit.

I love all the cute accessories! If you end up drawing one, I'd love to see it! A more classic mermaid print would be very lovely. I love library prints! I love JetJ's La bibliothèque JSK and Skirt. (Not so wild about the OP with the faces.) I wish AatP's print had come in more muted colors, but one really can't tell from their stock photos what their colors will look like in person. I would love some more classic clock motifs. (I also wouldn't be against some Salvador Dali inspired prints-and not just his clocks.) If brands did more pieces based off of famous works, what would you love to see?

CUTTLEFISH! I really want a cuttlefish print, so bad. Or octopus. Or cephalopods in general.

By a Particular Brand: I love the retro inspired and kitschy prints that AP puts out, like Fantastic Dolly, Cinema Doll, or Merry Making. I hope they make more. :<
What I would like to see: I'd love to see a Jam print, or maybe a vegetable garden print? I also really like the idea of a cinnamon roll print.

I require more angels.
I don't care if it's overdone to death; I need more.

I wonder if there's a way to make library prints work in a different way, visually. Perhaps instead of a close-up of bookshelves, a view of an actual library, where you can see the aisles and tables and different floors. Maybe even a painting dress of a library.

I would love for a gothic or classic themed anatomical print to be released. I would also love a print featuring crows or ravens as the main theme.

I would love for a gothic or classic themed anatomical print to be released. I would also love a print featuring crows or ravens as the main theme. I love both of these ideas. The idea of an anatomical print made me wonder how Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man would look as part of a print like that, maybe as some of the background detail. I realized that I've been wearing a lot of cameos with my outfits lately. I'd kill for a cameo print. One from IW or AP, especially one of AP's screenprints, would be amazing. I'd buy it so fast! AP has made some things that make me think of cameos, but I don't go for cats in my prints. There's usually something I don't like about each one. I just want various human head designs at the bottom of my skirt or JSK.

I'd really love an insect or arachnid themed print that didn't look like Joann's Halloween fabric I also have a soft spot for anything nautical-themed, although there's plenty of that out there. A tea or coffee themed print would be cute. Also, since the galaxy-print-everything phase is starting to fade, what about extreme weather such as tornado or thunderstorm prints? My inner weeb would also buy the crap out of a The Great Wave at Kanagawa dress.

I'd really love to see some more unicorn prints and bird themed prints! I'd love to see a sweet/classic take on garden birds, maybe a more mature classic or gothic print featuring birds of prey. Seabirds especially are a favourite of mine.
I've also always desperately wanted a haute ecole themed print, featuring the lipizzaners of the Spanish Riding School performing the airs above the ground.

It seems like print themes come in waves, like one brand starts with a certain theme that is successful and then 6 months~1 year later everyone is doing it. I also think themes are influenced by current trends in Japan - I know super sweet candy/cupcake/macaron AP started like that, then there was the sparkly, chandeliery hime trend. Now we're seeing lots of cats and animals since that is popular in Japan now. Chocolate will never die it seems.
