So it seems like lately lolita has really been blowing up - there are now more ways than ever for someone to pick up their first dress and dive into the community at large. With this has come an influx of lolita-related media, such as films (there's a new one coming out, I can't wait), youtube channels dedicated to the fashion, thriving fashion magazines, and even Misako's official international club!
There's already a lot of lolita-related media out there, what's your favorite frilly entertainment floating around? Recommend and post links if you'd like (I for one love finding new clips!) What about lolita media you'd like to see? Have you contributed at all with your own youtube videos, tutorials, etc? If there were no barriers, what would you like to do, if anything?
Personally, Kamikaze Girls almost feels like an initiation movie now, but it definitely has some serious re-watch-ability. Mizter Rococo also has a special place in my heart for featuring a different kind of 'kawaii'. I'd actually like to see a group of girls pull off a sort of nightly news-esque show where they'd report on new brand releases, tea parties, and notable appearances or articles from brands, maybe even fun street-snap style segments of interviews.

I think this is the best representation of Lolita on TV that I've seen. It keeps to the spirit of the fashion and is pretty educational. Julie Chang looks really cute in lolita too. Julie Chang Lolita Make over

Do you have any more information about the new movie? I loved the Kamikaze Girls book and movie. Mister Rococo was so adorable. There's a sequel to Kamikaze Girls, if I remember corractly. I haven't read it but want to. There was an old thread along similar lines on EGL. There were a lot of suggestions for anime, dramas, and manga that had lolitas in them. I ended up reading Cat Street by Yōko Kamio, which I absolutely loved. It was such a cute series. The story wasn't about lolita, but a major character was a lolita who made her own clothes. I tried to watch the drama, but it was too different for me to enjoy. Mendol (Ikemen Idol) was another suggestion that I enjoyed. It's a really campy drama. (Aren't all Japanese dramas a little campy/corny?) If you haven't checked the Media section in the memories on LJ, you might want to take a look. The list of lolita videos was updated this past June.

I was under the impression that the sequel was never translated. I would love to read it, as well. Yeah, I didn't remember ever hearing that it had been, and that's something that people would have mentioned. I still want to read it regardless. It'll just take some more time to get my reading level in Japanese to a point where I can understand it. (I study foreign language and literature and plan to go to grad school specifically for Japanese, so it'll be good practice later on.) Slang can be a challenge too, and Ichiko probably uses a lot of it.

Wasn't there something coming up on TLC about lolitas and "living dolls"? One of those "look at these freaks" sort of deals, which I kind of wish they'd stop, just in general.

Similar as it's still media; a couple of weeks ago our state's major newspaper did an article on us. She did a pretty decent job of getting the idea, except for that in the very first paragraph she said that we enjoy wearing "baby doll costumes" in public, and made it sound like all we do is wear Lolita for attention. Womp womp. Overall it wasn't that bad, though.
We did, however, overhear the photographer saying that he was disappointed because he was expecting something different, and the results were that possibly the ugliest photo of me on the planet was the one he used and we're pretty sure that was on purpose. I think he was expecting a circus act or a fetish or something exciting like that. Creep.

I've only seen the Kamikaze Girls movie but I absolutely loved it. I wasn't aware that there was a sequel to the comic either but sadly I know literally no Japanese so that's a no-go for me

(I know the book does.) The book is a fun read. If you get the chance, I would definitely recommend reading it.

I love Deka Wanko, the manga and the live-action show. I want to get back into reading/watching it. It's just too funny.
